We had been planning our summer vacation to Yellowstone, but with the gas prices where they are, we were undecisive. Until Brandon walked into the room and reminded us that in the fall he will be a "high schooler".
So Friday afternoon, May 25th I called Gary Pitts and asked him about getting me price quotes on some tires for our 2002 Impala. He called back with a price that was comparable to my other calls. When I asked him if he could get it done before we left on vacation in a week (June 1st), Gary said BWAG would pick it up at the Library on Wednesday and deliver it back to her before she was done work at 3pm. Thus, we scheduled the appointment.
On Tuesday AM, I called Gary and said I did not get time to change the oil, can they do that when the new tires are being installed? Of course, that was not a problem.
Well, we went to Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and South Dakota. Put on over 3800 miles (Needs another oil change) and averaged 29.8 mpg. The kicker is: WE are so GLAD that we put the new tires on because on Wedesnay afternoon and Thursday morning we drove through BLIZZARD conditions in the mountains of Wyomingand Montana! 4WD trucks were stuck and slid off the road (no ditches, just ledges) and we (slowly and cautiously) trudge through these terrible conditions (especially in June).
We are home safe and sound, but I know we could not have made it on the old tires.
Thanks Bill Jr, Gary and BWAG for working us into your schedule! If it wasn't for the prompt service we received, who knows where we'd be today.
