Ottawa, Illinois

Since 1853, Ottawa has remained one of the quaintest cities in Illinois. Located along the Illinois River, Ottawa is home to a diverse community and wide range of cultures. No matter who you are, there’s something that’s right for everyone in Ottawa.

Nicknamed The Friendly City, Ottawa is home to an array of historic landmarks. Active with the abolitionist movement during the late-19th century, the city is host to important locations like the John Hossack House, an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Visitors also frequent the Norsk Museum, which celebrates the Norwegian settlers who founded the area. The Reddick Mansion is also popular for tourists, known for beautiful murals and architecture.

The city also has many events, such as the Old Town Farmers Market, readings at the Reddick Public Library, and more. The Annual Wallace Memorial Event celebrates the legacy of the Civil War, and the Oktoberfest event is a must-see for everyone.

Looking for a bite to eat? Ottawa has some great restaurants such as BASH Burger and Sushi, Corner 230, Obee’s Soup-Salads-Subs, and more. If you want American food, ethnic entrees, or simply a good place to grab a drink, there’s no better place than Ottawa. For more information on fine-dining in the area, click here.
